Our deepest psychological injuries often happen before we can talk. As small, vulnerable children, lacking verbal skills to express our distress, we instead stored the pain in our bodies.
These wounds may show up later as anxiety, unfulfilled relationships, depression, anger, lack of focus, illnesses or repetitive injuries, addictions, and parenting issues.
A body-oriented therapy approach can free us to integrate language and emotional expression. When we deeply heal these old injuries, we can build a new blueprint for our life.
I help clients connect to themselves in the best ways possible: by connecting the body to the mind and the mind to the body.
When you work with me, your psychotherapy may be combined with somatic experiencing, movement therapy, expressive arts, healing early attachment wounds, birth processing, or bodywork. Or we may sit quietly together, listening to what needs to be said.
You will help make these choices. We will collaborate on creating a therapeutic environment that is right for you and your development. At each stage of your psychotherapy, your body will tell us what you need next in order to heal and make the changes to live the life you want.
“But therapy didn’t work for me in the past.”
It may be that patterns ingrained in your body were not addressed—patterns that produce fear, inability to take action, or anger, even in non-threatening circumstances.
When early emotional wounding held in your body is not healed, you may run into challenges creating healthy boundaries or forming healthy, loving relationships.
