Dear Strong Woman- I See You..
Dear Strong Woman,
I see you,
You've had a pivotal life event that changed the way you see yourself.
And though you have tried many things, you haven’t resolved it.
Maybe, you have an early history of trauma where during a successful career and family life you spent days where you were afraid to leave your house because your shaky legs might not hold you up.
Or you’ve been way too anxious to speak, and so have been silent when you needed to stand up for yourself, disagree, or to share who you were with the world.
Maybe, you feel stuck in grief because something has happened to your body’s ability: birthing, aging, injury, menopause or illness, and you had to sacrifice the parts of your identity built around your physical prowess. Now you silently blame your body for betraying you.
Perhaps, you have had a significant relationship end- a divorce, a death, or children leaving you empty nested. And you haven’t kicked back into gear to restart your life because you are much more sad than free.
Maybe, your hopes for the career you know is possible- gets drowned out in your internal confusion about who you should be and who you are, and you don’t know the way to make the right choices for yourself to get through the noise.
Or maybe, like me, you had the career and family of your dreams, only to have your child become very ill--and all your time has been consumed with tending and saving their life.
Caregiver, I see you.
Caring people care.
It is profoundly confusing to give of your heart and soul to the care of someone else and then to try to maintain a public life—much less an alive connection to yourself.
It can be very much like a navigating through a desert in a sandstorm.
These events have caused you to lose parts of yourself and to lose touch with the parts that actually hold your power for you to help yourself.
So, what is the problem?
You’ve tried to use your Mind to change your body.
And that doesn’t work.
This doesn’t work because your body is speaking in a different language.
This doesn't work because your body holds all the elements of your story.
Your body holds the numbness, the hurt, the tenderness, and the trauma.
It also contains the unique information needed for your healing.
Bodies need to be listened to.
To listen to your body, you need to know how.
This process takes time.
Especially if there has been a big rupture- like a pivotal life event.
Then you need a safe container that can hold all the insights and emotions that emerge when you are given the opportunity to truly experience what your body has to communicate with you.
And once you are genuinely able to listen to your body’s communications, then….
You will finally make the right choices for you!
And that is why I created my program, the Whole Body Recovery Program, because I was lost after helping my child recover and I thought, “I need a recovery program for Me.
I need one that teaches someone who is experiencing disconnection how to reconnect.
So, I created one that honors and respects the body’s intelligence. And the results were: My injuries healed, my body opened and strengthened, my relationships improved, my professional work- became exactly what I wanted to be doing, working as a somatic therapist and teaching internationally, and maybe, most importantly, I started choosing people to support me who share my values of wanting to make the world a better place.
And, I want this for you.
The Whole Body Recovery Program is an invitation to heal your connection to yourself on all levels—but particularly at a body level. In the safe environment of the small group cohort, we can embrace the physicality of our loss of self while simultaneously recovering our connection.
The problem for the women I work with is the disconnection from Self.
While we are still disconnected from ourselves, it is very hard to sort out how to heal the part of that we can’t feel.
It is a dilemma: ‘I miss being myself. And yet here I am being something in this body that sometimes doesn’t feel like me-so where am I?”.
How many of us have been given advice from a care provider and then when we did not improve, were literally blamed for the very problem that caused us to seek out help.
This happened to my client, Ruth multiple times, and she ended up feeling more gravely disconnected from herself in the face of her invisibility to these providers.
The problem for Ruth and for the women I work with, and perhaps for you, is the disconnection from Self.
While we are still disconnected from ourselves, we can’t heal the part of ourselves that is missing.
It is a dilemma: As Ruth described it “I miss being myself. And yet here I am being something in this body that doesn’t feel like me-so where am I?”
Ruth’s medical trauma and the loss of her voice in the face of it, had caused her to lose touch with the part of herself that had the power to help her regain her embodied self.
And once she was genuinely able to listen to her body’s communications:
Then, she was finally able to make the right choices for herself.
I want this for you too.
Here's an opportunity to Finally be guided in an in-depth program that will teach you how to listen to your body at a deep psychophysical level so you can heal.
The body holds onto our polarizing inner conflicts by getting stuck and numb, or that ants-in-your-pants anxious feeling.
What if I told you that Body Recovery is much more potent in a group than in individual work? It is powerful because you get to be seen and known and witnessed, encouraged and inspired. You get to laugh and cry and play and create and dance. When you participate in consistent long term Group work will help you trust yourself, release early shame and growing relationally. It magnifies your healing because you are learning how to love your vulnerability from the other group members.
I have taken many groups and individuals through a process that allows them to have breakthroughs in their bodies and minds so they can access the truth of themself.
The Whole Body Recovery Group has an advantage over 1:1 therapy.
A supportive group can conquer body shame by collaborating together on creating new perspectives.
We are pack animals who learn about safety, security, and beneficial attachment from one another.
A well led group can accurately reflect who you are becoming back to you---as long as there are shared values of creating safety and respect for each person in the group.
This is the heart and soul of the Whole Body Recovery Program.
Marcie’s entire self concept changed from learning to listen to and respect her body’s new intelligence in the Body Recovery Group.
Her fear dissipated, her headaches got better, and she became able to speak in front of groups of people without paralyzing terror.
Marcie was a fifty-year-old woman with a successful career as a psychotherapist, but she would get terribly fearful if she entered a room full of people, get a headache, feel disoriented, and take to stammering and looking at her feet while she walked to make sure they were holding her up. She learned to trust her feet and her heart again.
What are the actual results of the Whole Body Recovery Program in your life?
You could:
● Like the way you look and embrace your body and celebrate your physical well-being
● Restart or reinvigorate the career that you left behind because your anxiety kept you spinning your wheels
● Create meaningful relationships with people that see, hear, and respect you
● Handle stress and conflict with calmness, presence, and ease
● Learn how to access your inner well of energy.
At the core of it all, you have an untapped wellspring of energy—both physical and mental.
By learning to access this energy, you can meet every challenge with resilience, purpose, and enthusiasm.
This is the moment I want to offer you a precious year with the very best body-based cutting-edge therapies in a small cohort to rebuild, refresh, and move forward in your life with power.
Think about it…
Can you visualize waking up every day with a deep sense of self-acceptance.
You feel confident in your own skin, appreciating your body, and enjoying the physical well-being that comes with caring for it.
Let me summarize for you HOW to make it all happen:
Step 1.<> Apply to the Whole Body Recovery program to see if it’s a fit for you. We will spend an hour together, diving into your goals and desires for yourself.
Step 2. Show up and participate. Your cohort of eight women will meet online 3 times per month on Mondays at noon central time. You will have Somatic Movement Seminars monthly. There will be two Embodied Living Retreats: one in person, one virtual. And you also receive 12 Individual Somatic & Internal Family Systems Sessions. There is a Creative Arts project. There is an online learning portal with gems. And central to all of this, is your participation in a personal daily practice to repattern your body, mind, and heart.
Step 3. Commit to the daily personal practice. Do the practices so you can truly take advantage of the feedback, guidance, and coaching we provide.
Step 4. Integrate and implement as we go. By integrating the interpersonal lessons, somatic awareness, self-energy practices, and new movement abilities, you will feel the results and experience a return on your investment.
You are already beautiful, inside and out.
And life can unexpectedly be so hard...
It can throw us enormous curve balls.
I created this program for women like you who care for others as much if not more than you can care for yourself.
